A brand-new developer blog opens with a post called "Hello, World". Of course.

Every developer blog opens with a post called "Hello, World". I have been on GitHub as xaverric since 2016, which gave me ten years to come up with something more original.

I did not. This is that post.

Basics#

Success metrics#

The key metric for this platform:

Every new post pushes it down, and it is the only metric I'll ever be happy to watch fall. It also has a loophole: deleting code lowers it too. So if the next post takes a while, assume I am refactoring.
